Why Choose us?
Our physios all have a minimum of 5 years practical experience but most have many more than that (and a few so many they just don't want to say!) Many of our staff have completed their Masters.
We're physios first who happen to run a business too. It shapes everything we do. We genuinely like people and we hope people like us.
We've got some truly special people in our teams who've done some pretty amazing things, so we feel we can completely empathise with you.
Whether it's a work related/postural problem, a sports injury or non specific pain, a member of our experienced team will take the time to work with you to plan the best course of action.
Are we registered? Yes, with the Health Professions council and we are members of the CSP (Chartered Society of Physiotherapy).
Do you only see private patients? No - some local doctor's surgeries refer to us under the NHS. Please ask if this applies to you.
Can I use my BUPA membership?
Yes, we are registered with leading medical insurance companies.
We have a provider number which you can pass on to your insurer if required.
How long will I have to wait for an appointment? If you are self-funding and are available we can usually see you the same day.
Body Movement Screen and Personalised programme
"It's like an MOT for your body"
We can offer you a full movement screen that analyses the way you move highlighting areas where you will benefit most from specific conditioning.
If you have a recurrent / long term problem, why not consider a body screen
Includes a Sports Movement Assessment
Have you ever wondered why you are prone to the same injury when training, or you feel you can't run efficiently, or reach for that position to return a serve?
Although common in all levels of sport, these issues can be assessed, improved and in some cases resolved.
We can offer you a full movement screen that analyses the way you move, highlighting areas of weakness and restriction, formulating a programme for you to address.
Who is it for?
The assessment is suitable for anyone who trains and competes regularly and is addicted to sport at any level! You may want to iron out the following:
struggling with recurrent sports injuries
strength and flexibility issues that haven't improved in the gym
suffering with persistent work related aches & pains, headaches & tight muscles in your neck/shoulders
not performing as well in sport following a previous injury
use us to help you plan how to be "fit" for a new activity - if you're keen to prevent a potential problem whilst planning to do something special such as taking up a new sport, climb a mountain or going on an active holiday
What is involved in the MOT?
The session will cover the movement screen as well as giving you an exercise programme to take away with you. The entire MOT can either be carried out as a single appointment if you are willing to wait whilst we design your personalised program or you can return for the 30 minute follow up appointment the next day or week
If you would like a Body Movement Screen send an enquiry through our online contact form or give us a call on 0115 972 1319.
Physio for sports injuries
Whether you are a serious sports-person or an enthusiastic amateur, no one likes to be away from their sport through injury. Our experienced physios can help to relieve your pain, restore your mobility and get you back to your sport quickly and safely.
We have a wide range of experience in the specialist assessment and treatment of sports injuries. Our physios have worked to the highest level in a variety of sports at the highest levels and can provide a thorough assessment, advice and treatment tailored to you.
Common sports injuries
Common problems we can help with include
muscle/ligament and joint sprains and strains
bruising to soft tissue
Diagnostic Ultrasound scanning
We also offer ultrasound scanning as a part of our patient diagnosis which can be used for a number of conditions including muscle tears, bleeding or fluid collections in muscles, bursae or joints and diagnosing tendon tears.
Diagnostic ultrasound scanning is used to supplement the physiotherapy assessment - we do not diagnose our patients on the basis of the ultrasound image alone.
Working with you We work with you, your GP and/or specialist to get the best possible results. If you've had surgery then we can help with your rehabilitation programme.
Sports Massage is suitable for anybody who enjoys a deep massage, not just for athletes.
Valued by both athletes and people who don't play sport but feel aches and pains due to work related activities such as sitting at a computer for many hours at a time.
There are many claims made about what massage actually does - the evidence is questionable, however many people are confident that it helps them feel better and ready to train / compete again or even manage their lifestyle.
So we're not going to make up any supersonic benefits or repeat dodgy claims - but encourage you to try it and make up your own mind. As we like to say - the evidence is often questionable, but the most important person is you;
"n=1" so why not give it a go?
Soft Tissue techniques are incorporated such as Soft Tissue Release (STR) Neuromuscular Technique (NMT) and Muscle Energy Technique (MET). Remedial Massage can sometimes be uncomfortable, but is applied in a way that you will instinctively know is beneficial.
Even though sports massage and remedial massage are separate techniques they are commonly combined during a massage treatment for the desired outcome.
All Impact Physiotherapists who practice acupuncture are members of the AACP (Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists) and adhere to strict guidelines for safe practice.
Acupuncture is an ancient healing technique which is now well proven and widely accepted.
Acupuncture can be used in the TCM (traditional chinese medicine) way, and is a simple and safe way to ease pain. Fine, single use, sterile needles are inserted into the skin at precise points depending on your specific problem.
This process stimulates your body's pain relieving hormones and eases your pain. Many patients find this relaxing which in turn helps your recovery.
A western way is to use needles to treat "trigger points" in conjunction with manual therapy techniques for treatment of your condition.
The signs and symptoms of your condition will be assessed to determine the best type of treatment.
Most people respond best to a course of treatment, but as with all our services you will be assessed individually to ensure the right approach for you.
