Overhead Travelling Crane Training / Slinging Banksman Because of the possible serious consequences of failure within a lifting operation these operations have been controlled by legislation for a very long time. In the past these controls had grown into a tangled mess, applied in some areas of industry, ignored in others. The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) changed this with the introduction of a single set of regulations to cover all lifting operations in all work situations. LOLER will be applicable wherever lifting operations using lifting equipment take place and as with all modern legislation, comes complete with an approved code of practice and guidance notes. In addition to this lifting legislation there are also general regulations which are applicable across all industry sectors and which impose requirements on lifting equipment and its use. For example, the general provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (HASAWA) and parts of the following regulations apply to lifting equipment and its use:
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (MHSWR)
The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER)
Our experienced Instructors can make all this legislation make sense to you and even advise you on what you need to comply. One thing the law makes clear is that all operators of work equipment must be trained. We can do this for you and it doesn't cost as much as you think. Please contact us for a quote.

Reversing Lorry Banksman Training The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 requires employers to provide and maintain systems of work which are, so far as is reasonably practicable, safe. The Act also requires employers to take all reasonably practicable precautions to ensure the safety of their workers and members of the public.
The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 require the organisation of traffic routes to ensure safety and their maintenance in an adequate condition
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1992 require employers to assess all risks to the health and safety of their employees and anyone else who may be affected by their work activity. This risk assessment will identify what measures they need to take to comply with the law. The Regulations also require employers to provide their employees with adequate health and safety training.
This means that you should look critically at how people can be put at risk and consider how reversing can be done safely and then take reasonably practicable measures to reduce the risk of injury.

Lorry Mounted Crane Training (Hiab) The safe and efficient use of a Hydraulic Lorry Mounted Crane and the handling of loads, is dependent on the supply of good equipment and the skills and knowledge of the person operating the machine. Whilst experience on this type of machine is important, it is essential the operator receives correct formal training in the safe operating practices. There are many different types of Lorry Mounted Cranes and different typed of attachments. It is therefore essential that operators are familiar with the specific machines that they will be required to operate and the working knowledge and potential hazards of this equipment. Without this training the operator will be working with a degree of ignorance and therefore will be a risk to themselves and others. Upon completion of training and proving your skill, ability and knowledge to operate a Lorry Mounted
Crane to the standard required, you will be issued with a certificate of basic training.
Each year many accidents occur involving vehicle mounted cranes and associated slinging applications. Some of these are fatal and in many cases accidents can be attributed to lack of formal training or the operator not adhering to the recognised safe practices. It therefore follows that to ensure safe systems of work the first step must be training, the second is for the operator to put this training into practice at all times, developing safe working practices as a habit and not just for the test.
