Business Profile

About Us We are experienced in helping people think through the issues and opportunities that affect them to create financial plans and investment portfolios which meet their personal and professional ambitions and aspirations.

Working with Brewin Dolphin gives our clients the confidence that comes from a better understanding of their financial position, what their options are and a plan to help them get to where they want to be that will respond to changes in their circumstances and financial markets.

Personal 'Investing in the relationship' may sound an old-fashioned approach to business, but for us it has never gone out of fashion. There are no shortcuts, and even with today's technological advantages, we believe that the best way to understand your needs is to invest time with you. After all, it is only by understanding you properly that we can create and execute a strategy that will truly achieve your goals.

Close to you Placing such a premium on personal relationships, we've built a network of 29 offices across the UK, Channel Islands and Ireland, so there is one near to wherever you are.

Independent minds We remain an independently-owned firm, listed on the London FTSE 250, bound to no corporate group.

We have our own substantial award-winning independent research team, who undertake their own research across markets, asset classes and individual companies. They develop their own unconstrained views and insights, which our client advisers draw upon to best manage your wealth.

Investing your money You may currently be earning a minimal return in a bank or building society account. But moving from a savings account to investing in a wider range of assets may require more time or know-how than you have at your disposal.

Pensions & retirement From stopping work altogether to a slow and gradual reduction of commitments - retirement means different things to different people. Making sure you can sustain the level of income you need as you move away from full-time employment or your business interests is key to a long and happy retirement.

Passing on your wealth Inheritance tax (IHT) is paid if your estate (property, money and possessions) is worth more than the inheritance tax threshold of £325,000 when you die. This threshold potentially increases to £650,000 for married couples or those in a registered civil partnership, and following recent changes may gradually rise to £1m for couples with main residences, provided that these are left to children or grandchildren. The rate of IHT applying to estates is currently 40% on anything above these changing thresholds, assuming no large gifts to charity.

Protecting your wealth As John Lennon once put it "Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans."

Not being able to work, being incapacitated, suffering a life changing illness, or death can have a major impact on a family's well-being. Different types of insurance can provide cost effective ways of ensuring your plans remain in place. Insurance is an extremely useful tool that is often the easiest, cheapest way to protect your family and business interests.

Life events Seeking advice on your financial plans and investments is often triggered by something happening in your personal life. Marriage, children, a change of job, redundancy, divorce and so are often a time to take stock and review.

Financial advisers In today's fast-changing marketplace, managing clients' investment portfolios has become a full-time job in its own right, yet it is just one of the many demands on a busy financial adviser's time. As more and more financial advisers are discovering, you can delegate some of the regulatory and administrative burden of your clients' investment portfolios to Brewin Dolphin and free up time to focus on what you do best: financial planning and growing your business.

Solicitors & accountants We advise different types of accountant and solicitor and their private clients on wealth management matters. From prenuptial, divorce, estate administration and mental capacity through to company exits and partnership matters, we take time to understand the different disciplines practised by professional advisers.

Charities Specialist portfolio management from a leading investment manager*

Managing charity portfolios has been a core part of Brewin Dolphin's business for over 65 years. We remain committed to working with our charity clients to help them achieve their financial goals.
