Business Profile

About Us... The evolution of karate is an epic story, spanning continents and oceans, covering thousands of years, and playing a tangible role in defining history. A synthesis of legend, anecdote, and accurate record defines karate as an art form more thoughtful than fighting, more immeasurable than a mere collecting of coloured belts, and more universal than sport.

Every Karate class is different but most classes contain basically four elements. The warm up, which is kept the same every time and forms a kind of check list so that the whole body can be warmed up correctly. Next is Kihon, which are the basics, this is the building blocks and foundation of Karate, it is the development of Kihon which will lead to Kumite or partner work.

The final aspect of a lesson will be Kata (forms) this is a set pattern of Karate kicks, punches, strikes and blocks which will form the basis of the self defence techniques.

The question that is often asked is can anyone do karate? Well, absolutely, the reason being that as a small child you can practice for balance and coordination. As a teenager or in your twenties, you can practice in a very dynamic way to develop speed and power. However, as you get older, you can simply refine your techniques. So you can practice whether young or old.

Karate is something that parents and children can enjoy together, developing their physical and mental strengths. Our youngest students are just four years old and our oldest student is now 73 and has achieved his 2nd Dan. Karate is suitable for all ages and abilities.
