Common sports injuries
Common problems we can help with include

muscle/ligament and joint sprains and strains
bruising to soft tissue
over training
muscle imbalances

Diagnostic Ultrasound scanning
We also offer ultrasound scanning as a part of our patient diagnosis which can be used for a number of conditions including muscle tears, bleeding or fluid collections in muscles, bursae or joints and diagnosing tendon tears.

Diagnostic ultrasound scanning is used to supplement the physiotherapy assessment - we do not diagnose our patients on the basis of the ultrasound image alone.

Working with you
We work with you, your GP and/or specialist to get the best possible results. If you've had surgery then we can help with your rehabilitation programme.

Long term recovery
As well as giving you a clear indication to the cause of the injury, we will also examine the reasons as to what contributed to it in the first place - what we call a 'body control assessment'.

This assessment will highlight imbalances of muscles and joints and identify faulty movement patterns which can be addressed by a comprehensive programme of treatment.

Occupational physiotherapy Occupational Physiotherapy has been shown to have demonstrable effects in reducing both the incidence and overall number of days lost to ill health and accidents in the workplace.

We can work with your staff to resolve pain quickly while teaching them skills to help prevent a recurrence of symptoms. Common workplace complaints include back pain, stiff or painful necks, sore shoulders and upper backs, sprains, joint pain and muscle strains and recurring headaches.

Neurology We treat patients who suffer from a wide range of neurological conditions including strokes, head injuries, spinal cord injuries, hemiplegia, Multpiple Sclerosis (MS), Parkinson's Disease, cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy.

Full Body MOT (including Sports Movement Assessment) Have you ever wondered why you are prone to the same injury when training, or that your posture affects your ability to run efficiently, or reach for that position to return that serve?

We can offer you a full movement screen that analyses the way you move highlighting areas of potential weakness and instability and shows where you need to improve.

Indian head massage Indian Head Massage is performed seated using a variety of massage and acupressure techniques to the scalp, face, neck and shoulders with or without hair oils.

It provides a sense of enhanced well being, alleviating muscular tension, stress and anxiety.

Sports & remedial massage Suitable for anybody, not just athletes, who enjoy a deep massage that makes you feel relaxed and invigorated. You might feel aches and pains from work related activities such as sitting at a computer for many hours at a time, or too much gardening...

Frequently Asked Questions Are you registered?
Yes, with the Health Professions council and we are members of the CSP (Chartered Society of Physiotherapy).

What are your fees?
Our basic charges are £49 for the initial assessment and £39 for subsequent half hour appointments.

We also offer extended assessment appointments for more complex problems, or multiple areas of the body. This will take 45 minutes and costs £49. If you have been seen elsewhere before and not been satisfied with your treatment then an extended appointment time allows us to fully investigate your problem. Please discuss this with us and ask for details. A future review may be necessary depending on the problem to advance the rehabilitation, this is normally done in a 30 minute session. Full details can be found on our fees page on our web site

Do I need a doctor's referral?
We work closely with General Practitioners, consultants and specialists, however you do not need a referral unless your treatment is covered by private medical insurance.

We can usually deal directly with your insurer for payment. Please ask when you make your appointment.

Do you only see private patients?
No - some local doctor's surgeries refer to us under the NHS. Please ask if this applies to you.

Can I use my BUPA membership?
Yes, we are registered with leading medical insurance companies.

We have a provider number which you can pass on to your insurer if required.

How long will I have to wait for an appointment?
If you are self-funding and are available we can usually see you the same day.

Acupuncture Acupuncture can be used either using TCM (traditional chinese medicine) or with a western ethos of dry needling. It is a simple and safe way to ease pain. Fine, single use, sterile needles are inserted into the skin at precise points depending on your specific problem.

This process stimulates your body's pain relieving hormones and eases your pain. Many patients find this relaxing which in turn helps your recovery.

Hand therapy A hand therapist is a registered physiotherapist who specialises in the rehabilitation of patients with conditions affecting the hands and upper limb.

Emma Bamford, our hand therapist, can help you return to a productive lifestyle following injury, disease or deformity affecting your hand.

Reflexology Reflexologists use hands-on techniques to release or stimulate specific points on your feet. These points have been found to relate to the organs and systems of the body.

Tenderness at these points can indicate when things are out of balance in that organ or system and in need of some attention. The reflexologist works on these points to help restore harmony and optimise function.

Craniosacral therapy Craniosacral therapy is a gentle hands-on method of evaluating and re-balancing the craniosacral system.

This system relates to the central nervous system, comprising the membranes of the brain and spinal cord, with their attachments to the bones of the skull and spine.

Chris Davenport is our craniosacral therapist, please speak to Chris if you would like to ask if this is suitable for you.

Ante and Post natal class Fit Back & Bumps is an exciting Educational Exercise Programme bringing new mums and mums-to-be together to share their pregnancy experience.

The classes are delivered by our Chartered Physiotherapists who will help remove the fear you might have about exercising during pregnancy and after you have had your baby.

Tai Chi class Our classes have been designed to be taught in a step-wise manner, breaking down the tai chi movements into smaller steps, whilst learning the sequence. You'll learn one or two new movements each week as we build the routine, practicing what we've learnt before.

Our tai chi for health courses run during term times and during the holidays. The duration of each course depends on the set program but typically run for 6 - 12 weeks. Places are limited to 5 per class for each program, with no previous tai chi experience required to join. The classes are taught by Chris. He is accredited to instruct the following tai chi for health institute programs.

Pilates class We offer Pilates classes and individual sessions. It is personal choice whether to join a matwork or studio class, both are run by Physios and have just six students to ensure you have an individualised workout. Feel free to drop by and take a look to help make your mind up.

All Instructors are experienced Physiotherapists who have trained in Pilates over a number of years. We offer 3 levels from beginners through to advanced throughout the week.

Yoga class Our small classes (maximum six students) ensures individual attention. At the start of the class you will be guided through a brief breathing/ relaxation practice to help settle the body and improve focus and concentration for the rest of the class.

Most of the class will then be performing Asanas or postures which will specifically work certain areas of the body, to either stretch or strengthen them. Each class ends with a period of time focusing on relaxing the body.

"Ironman Vichy, France August 2017"

"Sally, you provided some physio care to me a few months ago whilst I was in the middle of hard training for my first IronMan. I had a dodgy knee pain and after a few consultations you sent me away with some stretches and excercises to do.

Well, they worked.

On Sunday I got over that finish line in France and became an IronMan. I had (and still have) many aches and pains from it, but thankfully the knee is not one of them!

Many thanks for the help and advice.

All the best, Ash Hallam"
