Occupational Disease Claims:

At Hilary Meredith Solicitors Ltd, we have the experience and expertise to help you pursue your occupational disease claim. It is crucial that you choose the right solicitor to handle your case because the issues involved can be complex and the amount of damages involved high.

The term occupational disease describes several conditions and the types of claim we handle are:

Occupational Deafness/Hearing Loss claims

Occupational deafness is usually caused by repeated exposure to excessive levels of noise at work though it can also be caused by a one time exposure to a very loud noise. Permanent hearing damage can result and the exposure may also cause tinnitus (a ringing or buzzing in the ear).

Exposure to Asbestos

There are different illnesses and conditions that can develop following exposure to asbestos. The most common are:

Pleural thickening - this is where membrane surrounding the lungs becomes scarred and thickened because of the inhalation of asbestos fibres and as the thickening becomes more widespread it may cause respiratory difficulties and it can also be a warning sign that the sufferer has been exposed to asbestos in the past and is at risk of developing a more serious asbestos related illness.
Asbestosis - this is a disease caused by inhaling asbestos fibres usually over a long period of time which causes lung fibrosis or scarring and thickening to the lung tissue.
