COVID Statement - All Work is Online

Communicating via a videocall can be really engaging when the therapist uses the screen well by moving in positive ways, and also sessions sometimes contain psychological education to help to empower you, with illustrations and visual aids or good description if you have any visual impairment(s).
Since March 2020 all services have been provided via online videocalls and or by phone, and reports and any other correspondence and documentation via email.

You might like to take a moment to endeavour to show yourself respect for making this move, by searching then enquiring about getting the right professional help.

I work to empower: adults, couples, children, young people, families and organisations.

Issues I work with include an A to Z of conditions, challenges, disorders, and personal growth.

Clients find it reassuring that I have appeared on TV and radio as an expert. This is a confidential* service. Warm hearted well trained experienced and professionally registered counsellor / psychotherapist; psychosexual therapist; addictions - to alcohol, substances or behaviours such as pornography, sex, shopping, gambling and or gaming.

Private practice full time since 2009, graduated from university in counselling 2002. With core training of three years, five monitored clinical placements and in total over 500 learning events attended, including courses, conferences, seminars, workshops, webinars you can be assured that I am an unusually extensively trained therapist.

* Confidential service: there are certain legal reasons why sometimes confidentiality could be shared, for example if it was thought someone was in danger and or needed emergency medical help.

I provide all new clients with a copy of the practice Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.

Registered with BACP and Addiction Professionals The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) is the largest regulated professional body in the field in the UK, with over 60,000 members.

To be a full registered member of BACP a therapist must prove that they have had at least 3 years training with a suitable curriculum and provided at least 100 hours of therapy monitored by one or more clinical supervisor.

BACP contacts the universities and colleges or training organisation concerned to check the qualifications held by the therapist are real.

The BACP register gives each registered practitioner a registered number.

To be a member registrants must carry out various commitments and be able to provide documentation about the activities:
* See a clinical supervisor every month in practice, typically at least 1.5 hours per month
* Undertake added learning - continual professional development (CPD) every year, typically of at least 30 hours.
Personally I engage in lots of added learning often attending at least one webinar per week, as well as reading professional journals and books etc.
* Follow guidance in the Ethical Framework

Addiction Professionals Registration Body & Network is a leading UK professional body specifically for health professionals with training in working with people with addiction issues and challenges. It used to be called the Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals (FDAP) but changed its name in 2021 to reflect the breadth of work in addictions, which includes addictions to gaming, gambling, pornography, sex and shopping etc.

This is a new directory entry and I will add more information in future.
